LoopyFood.net joins Greenaissance CIC!
As of July 2017, the LoopyFood.net campaigning directory of Organic food has been brought under the umbrella of Greenaissance CIC. In case you are wondering, ‘Loopy’ represents the food values that the directory champions: Local, Organic, Open-Pollinated, Yummy! This is exciting news: with a big push to promote LoopyFood.net in progress, it is hoped that income from the directory will in due course provide funds for Greenaissance CIC to actively pursue projects such as the ‘Safer Weeding: Healthier Places’ initiative, which aims to help remove toxic chemicals from public spaces (see below).
There are many ways to support the LoopyFood.net mission to promote awareness of organic food. One of these is to donate to support the project.
Safer Weeding: Healthier Places
Greenaissance CIC has been developing an important programme area: the Safer Weeding: Healthier Places programme is a response to a situation that makes it difficult for local authorities (and commercial businesses as well as the general public) to move away from using toxic chemicals for weed control in our public spaces – chemicals such as glyphosate, which is proven to be harmful to wildlife and other animals, and which has been designated a ‘probable human carcinogen’ by the World Health Organization (as well as being linked to a wide range of other diseases, particularly when mixed with other chemicals to form widely-used commercial products). These are chemicals that you really don’t want your children (or yourself!) coming into contact with, yet which are routinely sprayed in play-parks and playing fields, as well as other public places such as pavements and roads. For more details, and to register to stay in touch about this, go to the Safer Weeding: Healthier Places programme page.
